Dr. Larissa Barbaro-Kukade
As a psychologist, my approach to therapy is integrative; rooted in psychodynamic and client-centered theories. The path to healing is paved with a safe, nonjudgmental, warm relationship between client and therapist. Within the therapeutic space, I incorporate techniques from cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) and ACT to aid clients in decreasing distress and promoting healing.
I believe that it is important to meet clients where they are as we explore their early life experiences that may have been difficult or left them feeling alone. Through therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to explore changes they would like to see in themselves and their relationships. We will work together to identify your strengths, goals for therapy and patterns of relating to yourself and others.
I specialize in providing therapy services to adults, adolescents, and couples. I have expertise in providing therapy to survivors of interpersonal trauma (i.e. intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse or neglect); clients who are navigating experiences of oppression; grief and loss; chronic illnesses/conditions; or those suffering from anxiety and depression.
I have worked with clients in diverse settings and have been able to witness them overcome tremendous challenges, find peace and healing, and ultimately change their lives. I am honored to help clients throughout their journey and am humbled each time clients share their innermost thoughts, feelings and experiences.
