Natalie Johnson, LPCC
As a therapist, I aim to provide clients with a safe, non-judgmental environment for them to explore their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional experience. My approach focuses on empowering clients to explore their inner strengths and resources to enable them to navigate their concerns and stressors and take steps toward living a life in ways that are meaningful to them. With each client bringing their unique experiences to therapy, I tailor each session to a client’s individual needs.
I specialize in providing therapy services to adults and adolescents. My therapeutic approach is considered integrative and is grounded in a client-centered perspective that incorporates aspects of existential, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral theories. Some of my areas of interest include working with clients experiencing the effects of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, social inequities, and trauma.
I have specialized training working with clients who are experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health issues. I believe there is a unique relationship between a client’s substance use and their well-being. I take a holistic approach that helps my clients identify the bidirectional relationship between their substance use and mental health concerns, find ways to improve their overall well-being and support their journey of creating more meaning and fulfillment in their lives.
I earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Co-Occurring Disorders at the University of St. Thomas. In terms of previous clinical experience, I served as a Counseling Psychology Intern at Slate and Club Recovery working with clients individually and in group settings. I also interned at hospice as a caring companion and bereavement support, and served as a co-facilitator for an addiction awareness group for college students.
